Golf cart rentals in Emerald Isle, NC

The rules

1. Public-road use is permitted on the streets the town allows; see the local rules below.
2. Standard golf carts may be used where registered with the town, rather than LSV plating.
3. Carts are limited to 20 mph.
4. Driver must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid state driver's license.
5. Town-registered golf carts (permit sticker, insured, seat belts) may use most town streets at up to 20 mph, but not NC 58/Emerald Drive or Coast Guard Road except to cross; drivers must be 18+ with a valid license.
6. Every passenger must be in a designated seat with a functioning seat belt where required. No riding on laps, bumpers, or cargo beds.
7. No riding under the influence. The same DUI rules that apply to cars apply to golf carts.
8. Yield to pedestrians and bicycles. Use headlights and taillights whenever visibility is reduced.

• The Point at the west end is not accessible by cart — park and walk.
• Town-registered carts only, 20 mph max, drivers 18 or older. NC 58/Emerald Drive and Coast Guard Road are off-limits except to cross.
