Hatteras golf cart rentals — delivered to your door

The rules

1. Public-road use is permitted on streets posted at or below 35 mph.
2. Standard golf carts may be used where registered with the town, rather than LSV plating.
3. Driver must be at least 16 years old and hold a valid state driver's license.
4. In Hatteras village, standard golf carts may be driven on designated streets west of Austin Lane with speed limits of 35 mph or less, but not on NC 12 east of Austin Lane; state-registered LSVs may use roads posted 35 mph or less. Check the Dare County golf cart map for specific streets.
5. Every passenger must be in a designated seat with a functioning seat belt where required. No riding on laps, bumpers, or cargo beds.
6. No riding under the influence. The same DUI rules that apply to cars apply to golf carts.
7. Yield to pedestrians and bicycles. Use headlights and taillights whenever visibility is reduced.

• Storm-flood zones close roads sometimes; check with your host on tropical-storm weekends.
